According to the website for Robere & Associates, which offers a selection of management training courses and programs to help companies establish quality management systems,
Dr. Robere spent 30 years managing large Fortune 500 manufacturing firms in the computer industry. It was during that time, that he became acquainted with Dr. Deming’s work with productivity improvement and Quality Management. In 1991, after leaving industry, he decided to stay in Thailand and establish a training and consulting firm based on Dr. Deming’s work, to assist companies in the development of a value-added management system. Since the establishment of Robere & Associates, he continues to lead projects in quality improvement, and brings his many years of experience to students in post-graduate courses at several local universities.
William Edwards Deming was an American engineer, statistician, professor, author, lecturer, and management consultant. The TU Library owns several books by and about Dr. Deming and his approaches to quality control.
The TU Library also owns a book by Dr. Robere, translated into Thai language, on systems for continuous improvement.
Copies of this volume are shelved in the General Books section of the Boonchoo Treethong Library, Lampang Campus; Pridi Banomyong Library, Tha Prachan campus; and Professor Sangvian Indaravijaya Library, Thammasat Business School, Tha Prachan campus.
Mr. Robere is a longtime collaborator at the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand on Wireless Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan, Bangkok.
As its website explains,
The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) is the leading international business association in Thailand.
AMCHAM creates positive impact in the Kingdom of Thailand through capacity building, advocacy and networking for our members.
AMCHAM is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization. We maintain collaborative relationships with the U.S. Embassy Bangkok and affiliated U.S. government institutions. AMCHAM is also a member of the Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT), and liaises regularly with different ministries in the Royal Thai Government. We are active regionally through the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) and in the U.S. as an accredited member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Robere will speak on the same program as Assistant Professor Niramon Serisakul of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Chulalongkorn University.
Ajarn Niramon earned a bachelor of architecture degree from Chulalongkorn University, followed by a master of arts and doctor of engineering degrees in urban engineering from the University of Tokyo.
She will address the theme of Ecosystem: People, Place, and Productivity.
In addition to teaching urban design at Chulalongkorn University, Ajarn Niramon has also been a co-founder and director of the Urban Design and Development Center (UddC).
To cite only one project, in June 2017 The Nation newspaper reported that
The Urban Design & Development Centre (UddC) recently joined up with luxury mixed-use property IconSiam, Kadeejeen-Klongsarn Community, and the PPCP (public-private-community partnership) to announce the progress of the Kadeejeen-Klongsarn Centre.
Designed as a learning centre to preserve traditions and cultures and promote sustainable tourism in the areas, the centre is taking form on 250 square metres of the Memorial Bridge adjacent to the riverfront court of the City Law Enforcement Department, which is where Kadeejeen and Klongsarn meet. It is considered a strategic area in serving the communities, as it offers a range of transportation modes including roads and waterways, with a railway coming in the near future.
“As part of its CSR activities that contribute to the development of sustainable communities, IconSiam has been active in the Kadeejeen-Klongsarn Centre project since 2015,” said its managing director Supoj Chaiwatsirikul. “We expect that the centre will serve as a pilot project and a model for the development of other communities. The centre will not only provide a space for learning, knowledge and exchange of information, but also preserve traditions and culture, as well as promote eco-tourism, and increase the incomes of community members.”
Kadeejeen-Klongsarn Center, which will be completed by next year, will be operated under the PPCP model led by UddC in collaboration with a development committee made up of governmental and public organisations.
“Kadeejeen and Klongsarn are among the oldest communities in Bangkok-Thonburi and have a strong background. Over the past 10 years, people in the communities and outside the area have created many activities to rehabilitate this neighbourhood and make it lively once more. But temporary activities have limitations and cannot achieve tangible outcomes in terms of development despite the efforts of people in the communities and other organisations. The centre will be a social centre for sustainable development and gateway for visitors to reach the areas,” says Asst Prof Niramon Kulsrisombat, director of UddC.
In addition, Ajarn Niramon has led urban projects at the local and municipal level such as Bangkok250; GoodWalk Bangkok; and Yannawa Riverfront.
Two other contributors to the TU Faculty of Political Science webinar will be Kittichod Thiraphadungphong on Work Motivation Among Generation Z and Sawetachote Wichachai and Sawetachote Wichachai on Gig-workers’ Motivation: Thinking Beyond Independence.
