As one international scholarship website unaffiliated with the Hungarian government noted last year,

Call for applications for the Hungary Government Scholarship 2020-2021. The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The core mission of the program is to increase the number of foreign students in Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students.

The Stipendium Hungaricum is a fully-funded scholarship for international students to study a wide variety of bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, non-degree and doctoral programs at 31 Hungarian higher education institutions.

The  Hungary Scholarships 2020-2021 are just like the Chinese Government Scholarship, US Fulbright scholarship, Korean Government Scholarship Program (Global Korea Scholarship), Turkiye Burslari Scholarship, Australian Awards, Swedish Institute Scholarships in Sweden, or MEXT Scholarship Japan. It covers all of your expenses and applicants don’t need to pay for anything.

Thailand and Hungary

Last year, the Bangkok Post reported that Thailand’s Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) plans to adopt a model for trans-boundary water management — which was successfully applied on the Danube River — on the Mekong… Under the agreement, Hungary will facilitate the transfer of its knowledge on water management to help Thailand achieve its sustainable development targets… Somkiat Prajamwong, secretary-general of the ONWR, said the agency will be the main agency responsible for managing the development on the Mekong River.

He also said the ONWR will increase its cooperation with other countries in the region — some of which have also signed bilateral agreements with Hungary on water management.

Mr Somkiat said the agreement is expected to facilitate the exchange of information on issues such as climate change and disaster early warning systems, which could also be applied to other rivers in the region beside the Mekong.

The Pattaya Mail added that at the Budapest Water Summit 2019 in Budapest, Hungary, a Memorandum of Understanding between Thailand and Hungary was signed to promote cooperation on water resource management:

The Budapest Water Summit 2019 was held on the theme of Preventing a Water Crisis, and was aimed at promoting the cooperation of the global community, and uniting political sectors, decision-making key persons in business and finance, as well as academics, to highlight the crisis in water shortages, excessive water supply, and water contamination. The summit hosted seminars and exhibitions showcasing advancement in water technology by some 30 Hungarian firms.

At the event, Thailand took the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with experts from both the government and private sectors on the implementation of technologies with water management, improving water quality, and regional water management…

Thailand has proposed a joint committee to be established soon to materialize plans and projects agreed on by both sides, especially integrated water management on flooding and drought, waste water management, and ground water usage specialized in by Hungary. This cooperation will help establish a bilateral framework and enhance the ties between the countries, while Hungary has offered Master’s and PhD scholarships for Thai students to join leading universities in Hungary.

Noting that Thailand is the largest Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) trading partner of Hungary, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), established under the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government to assist in building competitiveness of Thai manufacturers and exporters, notes on its website about bilateral business relations between Thailand and Hungary:

The Treaty of Amity, Trade and Navigation between the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the Kingdom of Siam  dates back to 1872.

Thailand is the regional distribution center for the Hungarian pharmaceutical industry in Southeast Asia. Among other projects with Hungarian participation in the Kingdom are agrotechnological plans for integrated fresh water farms, solar panel manufacturing, and Aquapark – Phuket. Thai projects in Hungary include a Thai instant noodle factory /Esztergom – Thai President Foods Hungary Kft, 20 Thai restaurants, and other businesses.

The top 10 commodities of Thai exports to Hungary in 2015 included machinery, computers, printing machinery, air conditioning equipment and parts, electrical machinery, integrated circuits, electrical transformers, transmission apparatus for radiotelephony, and other items.

Thai President Foods PCL, which makes the internationally marketed instant noodle brand “MAMA” is the largest instant noodle manufacturer in Thailand as of 2020, with a market share of over 50%. Thai President Foods has opened a factory in Hungary, where it produces “Thai Chef” and “Asia Gold” brand noodles for the European market, as reported in The Bangkok Post and The Nation.
